The 1066 Chardonnay is defined by its low yields - exceptionally small berries and bunches that concentrate the fruit and intensify the chardonnay character. Because of these yields, the clone is most often used in blends; here, we've chosen to let it stand alone, allowing this tiny giant to be the hero of its own wine.
The wine was fermented in Taransaud Pure T French oak barrels, selected to enhance both the minerality and the expression of the clone. Initially restrained on the nose, it gradually opens to reveal generous, mouth-filling flavours where grapefruit and mandarin come together in bright harmony. A subtle hint of salinity adds complexity, while vibrant Ohiti acidity carries the wine through to a long, refreshing finish.
